The all-new GX 1000 vertical machining center, replacing the VMC 1000 P3 will show off its increased capabilities and refinement during its world debut at IMTS. The mid-range GX 1000 is a true workhorse and sports a sleek new look consistent with the rest of Bridgeport’s product line. Its new ergonomic shape follows the new look of the entire product line and gives the first inkling of upgraded changes “under the hood.”

These include:

• Enhanced Fanuc 21i MB controls
• Faster rapid traverse rates of 1,417 in./min (36 m/min)
• Increased Y axis travel capabilities of 22 inches (560mm)

 “We’ve taken an excellent product in the VMC 1000P3 – long a staple in our product line – improved on it and repositioned this popular product into a true mid-range workhorse as the new GX 1000,” says Andy McNamara, Milling Product Manager. 

The GX-Series VMC’s also feature a stiff and thermally-stable spindle, a rigid C-frame fixed column design, and fixed pre-tensioned double-nut ball screws on all axes. The unique Bridgeport-designed linear guide and guide truck configuration provides added stiffness, damping and surface contact area with three guideways and five guide trucks on both the X and Y axis; two guideways and six guide trucks on the Z axis.

Completing the lineup of GX-Series machines are the following models: GX 480, 600, 800, 1250, and 1500. Two brand-new boxway versions, the GX 650 B and GX 1000 B are also new for 2006!
